Keratin – this dominant protein in your skin makes up hair, nails and the surface layer of the skin. Keratin is what forms the rigidity of your skin.

Keratinocytes – produce the keratin protein, the main component of the epidermis.

Keratolysis – the removal of dead surface skin cells, used to treat various types of wart; the periodic exfoliation of the epidermis.

Keratoma – is an especially toughened area of skin which has become relatively thick and hard in response to repeated friction, pressure, or other irritation.

Ketones – these aromatic substances, used in nail polish removers, are toxic; they’re derived by the oxidation of secondary alcohols.
